Moore’s 130th Anniversary
It’s not often that a locally-owned, family business gets to celebrate their 130th anniversary. That’s right, 1-3-0! And here we are, one of the oldest businesses in Kerrville, run by its 4th generation. We couldn’t let this occasion pass by without a celebration of our store, and more than that, a celebration of you – our incredible community.
So much has changed since we began this journey back in 1892. Take a look at some of our old advertisements that date back many decades ago and see for yourself!
From offering live microwave demonstrations in the ‘70s and advertising pianos for purchase in the 80’s, it’s safe to say that we have come a long way since then. That said, there is something that has stayed true to us throughout all of the years: we are proud to be here, proud to serve our community, and proud to have something for everyone. And here we are, 130 years later.
Let’s take a look at all the fun that was had during the month of our 130th year! We celebrated throughout the month of August, and so many great memories were made.
We held a coloring contest for all of the kiddos in our community, and let us tell you, we’ve got some artists among us! The grand prize? A new youth bedroom set and mattress with a value of $2,000!
There were MANY votes cast to all of our entries, and we are proud of each and every one of you who submitted your beautiful work of art. Out of the many submissions we received, three finalists were chosen. Let’s congratulate two of our finalists who created some AWESOME bedrooms:

The excitement did not stop there. To ramp up moore enthusiasm for the event, The Kerrville Daily Times featured us in an article to give a preview of all of the festivities to come.
Festivities like our Family Day and our Chamber Night were underway! Above all the sales and the shopping, this is what our 130th Anniversary was all about – you. Providing an atmosphere for us all to come together, enjoy ourselves, and say thank you to our community. Take a look at the fun we had!
Throughout it all, so many of you took the time to support us and enter into the many goodies we gave away, including $13,000 in furniture and prizes, along with a $1,300 shopping spree! Let’s congratulate the winners – we can’t wait to see how they style their new pieces.
Let’s give one more congratulations to our beloved community of Kerrville. The roots of Moore’s Home Furnishings run deep here in the Texas Hill Country. Moore’s is here today and will be here tomorrow, and we thank you so very much for helping us celebrate this momentous occasion. We wouldn’t be here without you.
